Investigating Voltage

Lesson: Science

Class: Year 6 Year: 2023 - 2024

Today we have been investigating voltage.

Question: What happens to the brightness of a bulb when you add more voltage?

We started our investigation with one battery and tested the brighteness of the bulb using a LUX metre. We then continued to add one cell to the circuit to increase the voltage by 1.5V until we had 6V. We noticed the LUX intensity increased each time we added a cell. We decided if we carried out the investigation again we would change the bulb and ensure each cell was a new cell to make it a fairer test for each circuit and each component was working at full potential.

* The images are dark due to the classroom being in darkness to ensure we could measure the light intensity accurately.
