Worship
At Adlington St Paul’s, collective worship is a central and cherished part of daily school life. Rooted in our Christian vision, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart” (Colossians 3:23), it brings our community together in prayer, reflection, celebration and stillness. Through worship, pupils and adults are invited to encounter Christian teachings, biblical wisdom and the enduring values of faith, hope and love, helping to shape the character of our school and support the flourishing of all. In the language of Church of England education, our worship is inclusive, invitational and inspiring: inclusive because everyone is welcomed and valued, invitational because all are encouraged to engage in ways that are meaningful to them, and inspiring because it offers space for awe, wonder, reflection and spiritual growth.
Collective worship at Adlington St Paul’s reflects our foundation as a Church of England school while honouring the rich diversity of our community. It is carefully planned to express our Christian vision and values, and includes scripture, prayer, music, story, liturgical language, reflection and opportunities for pupil participation and leadership. We want worship to be a safe and sacred space where children and adults can pause, think deeply, ask big questions and reflect on their place in God’s world. In keeping with SIAMS understanding, participation is never assumed; rather, worship warmly welcomes all and creates the freedom for each person to respond with integrity and respect. In this way, collective worship strengthens our sense of belonging, deepens spiritual development and helps our whole school community to live well together.
