Making a Compass

Lesson: Science

In small groups we made a compass. This linked to our magnetic Earth and the invisible magnetosphere around us. 

We magnetised a paperclip, by moving it 25 times in the same direction on the North side of a magnet. We then slotted it into a straw and placed it to float in the water, allowing the paperclip to move to the direction of North. We were mesmerised by this!
