During our first Science topic, Everyday Materials, we looked at the different properties of materials we use and we created an experiment looking at waterproof or not? 
We created a table, made predictions about each of our materials and then completed the experiment.

Today we started looking at our new Science topic, Human Senses. We started the topic looking at the question, who we are? 
We created a mind map including all our ideas about the question. We then watched a video about humans and added more learning to answer the question (red pen).

Friday 6th October 2023.

Today at school it has been Maths Day. In KS2 they introduced Times Tables Rock Star and the whole school got to dress up as either a rock star or something else to do with Maths (eg colour, shapes, numbers). In KS1 we enjoyed some different Maths worksheet and Maths games throughout the day to celebrate Maths.

On Monday we had a great day at Turton Tower. In the morningwe pretended that we were in a Victorianclassroom and in theafternoon we got to play with old toys and some Victorian parlour games.

Ribchester Roman Museum 21.6.23, by Mr Nolan

On Wednesday 21st June, Year 3 had a wonderful day out in Ribchester. We found out about the Roman town that became Ribchester. Roman cavalry soldiers were there to guard the river and the crossing of some early Roman roads. We tried on armour, asked lots of questions, handled real 2,000 year old artefacts and even had a catapult fire at us (miniature). We learnt a lot and enjoyed using our topic knowledge.

This afternoon we have been busy creating our own SupermarketSalad. Yesterday we planned ouringredients and today wecreated our own salads. We chose between raspberries,blueberries, strawberries,lettuce, carrots and tomatoes. They alldid extremely well at chopping, slicing, mashing, grating andeatingtheir own salads.

Reception have learnt the stages in the life cycle of a butterfly. They are observing the live caterpillars closely and recording each stage.

During our afternoon learning with ‘Sunshine and Sunflowers’ Reception have explored growth and plants through the story Errol’s Garden by Gillian Hibbs. They planned their own community garden for Reception by considering what items and tools we might need such as soil, seeds, trowel, water, plant pots, watering cans!

This afternoon Reception have all helped to plant some seeds and we hope to care for them and see some beautiful flowers and plants blossom ?
