Mrs McGovern
Welcome to Reception
This term are topics are:
Summer 1
Sunshine and Sunflowers
This seasonal project provides opportunities for outdoor learning and teaches children how to care for the plants and animals in their local environment and how to stay safe in the sun.
Mini Project Shadows and Reflections
This project teaches children about natural phenomena, including shadows, reflections and echoes. They explore how shadows are formed and how they can change.
Summer 2
Big Wide World
This project teaches children about the global community to which they belong and explores how living things, communities and climates differ around the world.
Mini Project Splash!
This mini project teaches children about water, including floating and sinking, freezing and melting, and why it is important for living things to stay hydrated.
Pick and Mix
Your child will bring home their Pick and Mix linked to their topic. Pick and Mix projects are suggested activities that help to inspire children beyond the classroom. Each activity provides an opportunity for children to explore their topic further using a number of different skills. When children have finished a project, they can bring this into school where each class will have a designated time to celebrate the learning that has taken place. Projects can stay in school and be displayed on each class’s working wall or can be taken home.
If you have any questions about how to further support your child's learning at home, please contact your child's class teacher via Class Dojo or the school office.
